NEWBURYPORT — Local firefighters on Monday made quick work of a small fire inside a Malcolm Hoyt Drive industrial building.
At 6:07 a.m., the Newburyport Fire Department responded to ITW ShineMark for reports of an alarm box sounding. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke and fire coming from the rear of the building. The fire appeared to be coming from a commercial boiler that was part of a processing line.
The fire was partially extinguished by workers before firefighters arrived and was contained to the boiler. There were no reported injuries.
Mutual aid was provided by Amesbury and Salisbury firefighters and a Cataldo Ambulance crew. Station coverage was provided by Seabrook and Newbury fire departments.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Newburyport Fire Department.
