NEWBURYPORT — With the demand for emergency financial assistance rising daily across Newburyport and Newbury, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is inviting community members to lace up their sneakers on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. for the annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Need Walk. Rain or shine.
Operating entirely through volunteers from Immaculate Conception Church, the local organization provides crucial support to residents struggling to afford rent, utilities, food, and other basic necessities, without bias to race, color, or creed. As living costs continue to strain household budgets, the funds raised during this walk directly keep local families in their homes and basic needs met.
The walk starts and ends at the Immaculate Conception Parking Lot, 42, Green St., which check-in the beginning at 9 a.m. The course is a three-mile family-friendly loop suitable for all ages.
Whether participating in the walk or simply looking to discover how St. Vincent de Paul impacts the community, everyone is encouraged to visit an informational table hosted at Market Square from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk participants, supporters, and curious passersby can stop by to ask questions, learn about current community needs, and explore volunteer opportunities.
Walkers can participate individually or form groups. Community members unable to walk can still make a meaningful impact by sponsoring a participant or making a direct online donation at www.svdpnewburyport.com.
