Saturday was a big day for the Merrimack Valley Conference cross country teams as seven combined boys’ and girls’ teams placed in the top seven of their respective divisions to move on to next weekend’s Meet of Champions.
Starting with the boys, in Division 1A, Andover was third, while Lowell was sixth. In Division 1B, North Andover was third, and then in Division 1C, Billerica was third.
On the female side, in Division 1B, North Andover was sixth and in Division 1C, Billerica was first, while Central Catholic was third.
The top local individuals throughout all the divisions were Andover’s Kyle Haskell, who was ninth in 16:27.75 and then on the female side it was Central Catholic senior Madeline Courtemanche, who had her third straight fantastic performance,coming in sixth with a time of 19:56.72. Her teammate, freshman Kyla Breslin was leading the race but had to bow out because of an injury.
