BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Mike Montano’s fast start to the season continued on Tuesday, recording a triple-double in Frostburg State’s 109-95 win over West Virginia Wesleyan.
Montano finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Bobcats (3-3, 1-0 Mountain East Conference).
As of Thursday, Montano is second in Division II with 29 points per game, just behind Western Colorado’s Aiden McDowell who is averaging 30.
Mitch Finefrock scored a game-high 28 points with seven triples while Trey Simmons added 22 points, four assists, a block and a steal for FSU.
DJ Daniel also finished in double figures with 11 points and five rebounds.
Jaden Westfall led Wesleyan (0-5, 0-1 MEC) with 21 points, followed by Isaiah Baker (19) and Stephen Ovia (16).
Ovia had a double-double with 10 rebounds while Westfall added eight boards, a block and two steals.
Frostburg heads to Davis & Elkins on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Allegany 82 Harford 75
CUMBERLAND — Jaylen Brown and Darrien Ponder combined for 51 points in Allegany’s win over Harford on Tuesday.
Brown scored a game-high 27 while Ponder scored 24 for the Trojans (5-4).
Brown added five rebounds, three assists and a steal while Ponder added six boards and a steal.
Dorrell Little finished with 18 points and seven rebounds.
The Fighting Owls (4-6) had five players in double figures, led by Theo Hess’s 19.
Tre Powell (17), Israel Bosenge (12), Roy Palmer (10) and Junior Tutuwan (10) also hit double figures.
Bosenge, a member of the 2022 Bishop Walsh Elite team, added six rebounds.
The Trojans are at Frederick on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Montgomery 98 Garrett 89
COLUMBIA — Ian Pascal and Christopher Levy combined for 57 points, leading Montgomery over Garrett on Tuesday.
Pascal scored 31 points with four assists and three steals while Levy scored 26 points with five triples.
Aimane Elbouazzaoui added 14 points and five assists for the Raptors (6-2).
The Lakers (4-5) had five players score in double figures.
Lenny Smith led with 20 points off the bench, followed by Keyonta Johnson (14), Nehemiah Johnson (14), Donovahn Keyes (12) and Cory Harper (11).
Smith and Nehemiah Johnson each recorded double-doubles with 12 rebounds.
Garrett hosts the Robert Morris junior varsity team on Friday at 3 p.m.
Frederick 79 WVU Potomac State 59
FREDERICK — Potomac State shot 3 of 32 (9%) from beyond the arc in Tuesday’s loss at Frederick.
The Catamounts (6-3) missed all 14 triples in the first half and went 3 of 18 (14%) in the second.
Colby Margenau led Potomac State with 16 points, followed by Peter Quaye (11) and Cam Young (10).
Quaye added seven rebounds with two blocks and a steal.
Allegany College transfer Gabe Jones scored a game-high 20 points for the Cougars (4-4).
Jones shot 9 of 15 from the field and added five rebounds.
Ryan Tientcheu (16), Thierry Patchou (14) and Kylan Johnson (13) also scored in double figures.
The Catamounts host Allegany on Monday at 7 p.m.
