GRANTSVILLE — Mettiki Coal plated six runs in the seventh inning for a come-from-behind, 11-6, victory over rival Northern on Wednesday at Grantsville Park.
Four straight bases-loaded walks in the final frame lifted Mettiki to the win.
Mettiki’s Dane Van Slyke had three hits and two RBIs, Andy McCartney was 2 for 4 with two ribbies, Ryan Bird, Cole Parks and Blake Burrell drove in a pair each, and Lucas Lantz doubled.
Parks shined in middle relief for Mettiki, tossing three shutout, no-hit innings.
Mettiki took a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth before Bailey Turner belted a three-run home run. Elliott Myer-Shirer was 2 for 4 with a double.
Mettiki hosted Cumberland Optimist on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Southern High.
Northern is at American Woodmark at Westmar Middle on Friday at 6 p.m.
Junior Division
Outdoor Power 11, Southern 4
OAKLAND — Max Fradiska had a three-hit day and drove in five to lead Outdoor Power past Southern in a Host Stove Junior Division game on Wednesday at Southern High.
Southern (4-1-1) led 3-2 after the first inning, but Outdoor Power (5-1) scored nine of the game’s final 10 runs to pull away.
Fradiska was 3 for 4 with a double, Eston Powell singled and doubled, and Landan Davis doubled.
Davis threw three no-hit innings in relief of Dylan Irons, allowing a run with five strikeouts and two walks.
Lantz paced Southern going 2 for 3 with two runs batted in.
Southern hosts Flintstone at Southern High on Friday at 6 p.m. Outdoor Power hosts Bedford at Memorial Field on Monday at 5 p.m.
