PLATTSBURGH — Nathan Melville became the latest Section VII player to reach 1,000 points for his varsity career Friday in Schroon Lake/Newcomb’s 65-50 win over Seton Catholic in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference boys’ basketball.

“He needed 10 points to reach 1,000 and scored 10 in the first half to reach that milestone,” Seton coach Larry Converse said.
Elijah Melville added 13 points, Trenton Dick 12 and Daniel Pelkey 11 for the Wild Huskies.
Michael Mannix tossed in a game-high 26 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Knights. Paxton Mannix added nine points and Oliver Hughes eight.
“The game went back and forth in the first half,” Converse said. “They controlled the boards in the second half.
“At the end of the third quarter, the score was 48-42. In the fourth quarter, their overall size dominated the inside.”

“From our perspective, this was close to a complete game right from the opening tip,” Chazy coach Bailey Cross said.
“As we move forward, our defense is going to have to be the foundation of our success. Tonight, I felt our defensive intensity led directly to extra offensive opportunities, and that’s the formula we’ll need to rely on as the season continues.”
