Niagara Falls police are investigating an early Saturday morning shooting incident on 19th Street that sent a 41-year-old man to the hospital.
Police were called to the area of 19th Street and Walnut Avenue around 1:40 a.m. for multiple 911 calls to report the sound of gunfire.
Officers began searching the area for a scene and located a bullet casing on the north side of 615 19th St. During the investigation, police were advised that a man had arrived at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
Officers, along with detectives from Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Scene Unit, responded to the hospital and made contact with the man, who had been shot in the leg. He is expected to recover.
Outside the hospital, detectives located a pickup truck with an apparent bullet hole in the rear passenger door.
The incident is under investigation.
