The resident of a home on the 2200 block of Woodlawn Avenue suffered burns to his arms and head during a fire Monday night.
Niagara Falls firefighters, along with Niagara Falls police and an AMR crew, were dispatched to the structure fire at 2204 Woodlawn Avenue about 11:15 p.m. Monday.
Upon arrival, heavy smoke was observed emanating from the house and flames were seen coming out a west side window on the first floor. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and go back in service within about an hour and a half.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, however, the resident reported that the fire started on the stove. He believes that a bit of grease on the stove top ignited when he turned the stove on. According to him, the fire spread “super quick.”
The Red Cross has been requested to assist the man.
