BOYS SOCCER
Rockport 4, Essex Tech 1: After a scuffle in the action delayed Tuesday’s clash under the lights, the Vikings (8-4-4) rallied from an early deficit to secure another CAL win. Essex Tech had scored two minutes into the game but Rockport dominated from thereafter. Flynn Blanchard finished with a goal and two assists to lead the charge, while Liam Dewan notched a beautiful equalizer on a great tick-tack-toe passing connection with Liam Fauci. Deion Kasara also scored twice in the second half before Blanchard finished things off with a PK.
“Unbelievable game for Flynn,” said Rockport head coach Conor Douglass. “I was happy with the boys and the way they responded after giving up a quick goal.”
Rockport heads to Georgetown on Thursday for a 6:30 p.m. start.
Beverly 4, Gloucester 0: The young Fishermen (0-14-1) hung tough with the Northeastern Conference champion Panthers, but ultimately were unable to find the back of the net for the 10th straight game in Monday’s setback. Gloucester will look to find the win column on Thursday when it hosts Tewksbury for a 4:30 p.m. start.
