GIRLS BASKETBALL
Gloucester 51, Peabody 46: The Fishermen secured a comeback victory, battling back from a double-digit deficit to improve to 7-7 on the season with a big win over their NEC foes. Junior forward Jordan Perdue-Deltorchio continued to shine, dropping 28 points to lead the charge. Senior captain Taiya Mano added 15 big points for Gloucester, which will look to go over .500 for the first time this season when they host Hamilton-Wenham next Tuesday.
SWIMMING
Danvers 95, Gloucester 88: The Fishermen narrowly fell in what was their closest meet of the season despite multiple first place finishes. Danvers won the diving portion of the meet to ultimately prevail. Jacob Anketell won the 200 freestyle, Joey Porcello took first in the 50 freestyle and Henry Siedzik was a double-winner in both the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle. In the relays, Sean Buckley, Amos Telep, Porcello and Siedzik claimed first in the 200 freestyle while Anketell, Telep, Porcello and Siedzik captured first in the 400 freestyle relay. Emma Hoke also had a standout swim in the 500 freestyle, setting a PR with a sub-seven minute time.
GIRLS SKIING
Manchester drops two: The Hornets fell to North Andover, 111-24, and Andover, 115-20. Top three skiers on the day included Gracelyn O’Neil, Addie Ciaramitaro and Karis Bennett.
INDOOR TRACK
Manchester Essex splits: The Hornets girls squad narrowly topped Hamilton-Wenham on Tuesday by a 48-45 score, while the boys fell to the Generals, 75-20. Once again, there were several PR’s set across the board as the team continued to improve as they come down the regular season home stretch.
