Recently at the Orleans/Niagara BOCES’ Conference Center, school superintendents, chief school officers and school resource officers underwent training with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Department’s Emergency Response Team members Lieutenant Shawn Grapes and Lieutenant Chris Wesolowski presented the audience with scenarios to talk through on various responses to protect their campuses in the case of an active shooter.
The school officials refreshed their training on how to prepare for that type of crisis, be vigilant and how to stall the threat until the police can arrive to the scene. They engaged in some interesting dialogue and were grateful to have the two officers there for this valuable training.
School officials thank Sheriff Michael Filicetti, Grapes and Wesolowski for their service, time and expertise.
