The annual Bay State baseball games are underway, and nearly a dozen local high school athletes are participating.
Triton Regional has four athletes competing with pitchers Nick Bonasera and Liam Friis, catcher Josh Hersey and infielder Genera Carrillo. Both Bonasera and Hersey were just named Daily News All-Stars for their spring seasons, where they helped the Vikings advance a round in the Division 3 tournament.
After making a run to the Division 5 state championship game, Georgetown is also being represented by four athletes. Daily News MVP Hayden Ruth is the headliner, with Ty Southall, Oliver Thibeault and Brendan Loewen all joining him. Fellow Georgetown residents Cam Willis (Frederick Gunn School, C.T.) and James Solopoulis (St. John’s Prep) are also playing.
Finally, Newburyport resident Michael Todd — who attends the Groton School — is in attendance.
Wall of Fame golf tournament
The Newburyport Wall of Fame is once again hosting its annual golf tournament in 2024. The event will take place on August 1st at Ould Newbury Golf Course, with sign-in at 7 a.m. and a scramble shotgun start at 8 a.m. The cost is $125 per golfer, with cash or check both accepted at sign-in.
This is a smaller tournament with limited space, so please consider reserving your foursome early. If you can’t make it out this year, please consider donating or sponsoring, as every contribution is greatly appreciated.
For years, recently-departed committee member Roger Fuller ran this event. The Wall of Fame wishes to posthumously thank him for the years of dedication and work he brought to the committee and this tournament, along with the joy and memories he provided.
For sponsorships, donations or to book your foursome, please reach out to John Webber at: 978-361-5038, or via email at clipperfootballhistory@gmail.com.
