Moroz starts out hot for Governor’s
The Governor’s Academy softball team has started out the 2025 spring season 1-0, and a local star is a major reason why.
Merrimac native Angelina Moroz, now a junior, did everything she could to lead Governor’s to a season-opening win over Tilton Academy, 6-2. At the plate she went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and four RBI, then in the circle she went the distance and struck out 11 while none of the runs she allowed were earned.
Moroz hit .474 (18-for-38) for Govs as a sophomore last year.
Captains Corner
Captains Corner submissions are now being accepted for the 2025 spring season. A couple have already rolled in, but there are still plenty of local sports teams that haven’t been submitted. Coaches — or parents or the athletes themselves — who would like their captains featured are welcome to submit a photo to kgaudette@newburyportnews.com. Photos should have all captains featured and ideally be in their jerseys.
