CUMBERLAND — The Washington Street Library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 during Heritage Days, with a book signing by local author Andy Duncan at noon.
Duncan, a professor at Frostburg State University, is known for his captivating works of speculative fiction that explore folklore, history and the supernatural. His stories have earned numerous awards, including the Nebula and World Fantasy Awards. Some of his notable books include “An Agent of Utopia” (2018), “Wakulla Springs” (2013) and “The Pottawatomie Giant and Other Stories” (2012).
On Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., Duncan will present “Weird Western Maryland: Curses, Ghosts, and Monsters” at the library. The talk will delve into the eerie and intriguing folklore of Western Maryland, offering a fascinating exploration of the region’s most mysterious legends.
