EAST KINGSTON — The program “Brake for Turtles: Habitat Use, Threats and Conservation of At-Risk Turtles in New Hampshire” is scheduled for 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, at the East Kingston Public Library.
Presenter Joshua Megyesy, a wildlife biologist at N.H. Fish & Game Department’s Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program, will present on all seven species of New Hampshire turtles and their habitats; highest ranked threats; conservation actions to protect rare turtles; and how you can help.
The program is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Enjoy Bingo at Atkinson church
ATKINSON — Atkinson Congregational Church will host a Bingo game on Saturday, March 29, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Prices start at $10 for 10 Bingo games, with additional Bingo cards available for purchase. Participants must be at least 18 years old or have a parent present.
Prizes include gift cards from local businesses, including Atkinson Country Club, Freshwater Farms, Main Street Vintage, Mann Orchards, Market Basket, Orzo Restaurant, Osaka Restaurant.

“The event will be a fun way to have a great time with family and friends, while also supporting the church’s missions and programs,” said Pastor Jim Thomas, who will call out the Bingo numbers for the evening. “We’re incredibly grateful for the large number of businesses that have donated a prize.”
Concessions will be sold, including pizza from Fremont Pizzeria, hot dogs, chips, candy, and water.
Whippoorwill Farm wins People’s Choice
EAST KINGSTON — Congratulations to Whippoorwill Dairy Farm in Kensington for winning a People’s Choice for Farmers award. Farm owners Thatcher Furnald and Megan Ferentino received the $1,000 prize.
Whippoorwill Dairy Farm raises a herd of Holstein cows and sells their milk to Agri-Mark. Their cows live out on pasture mid-April until November, where they enjoy their ration and fresh water daily.

Women’s club hosts bulk shredding event
ATKINSON — The Atkinson Women’s Civic Club will once again host a Bulk Shredding Event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 19, at the Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St. The event will be held rain or shine.
Safely dispose of your confidential documents by having them shredded onsite. The cost is $10 per standard box (9” x 11” x 14”). Additional fees will apply for larger boxes. The onsite shredding truck has a viewing monitor, so you can stay and watch your documents be destroyed.

Garden club holds fundraiser
EPPING — Epping Garden Club is taking paid orders for its colorful bowls of pansies. The flowers are grown at Wentworth’s Greenhouses in Rollinsford.
The cost is $16 for one bowl, $30 for two, $45 for three, or $60 for four. The deadline to order is Friday, April 4.
Orders can be picked up from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at 9 Folsom Mill Lane.

Church to host pancake breakfast
ATKINSON — Atkinson Congregational Church will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12. All are invited to feast on pancakes, sausages, orange juice, coffee, and hot chocolate.
Cost is $8 for adults, and $5 for kids 4-8. Children 4 and younger eat for free.
The breakfast is a fundraiser to help support the church’s various missions and charitable projects.
Women’s group offers scholarship
HAMPSTEAD —The P.E.O. Chapter D-NH announces their Betty Anne Adams Scholarship (a minimum of $1,000) will be awarded to a high school graduating female student attending a two- or four-year accredited college or university.
The student must live in Atkinson, Fremont, Hampstead, Chester, Newton, Plaistow, Salem or Windham.
P.E.O. is an international philanthropic organization of almost a quarter million women that raises money for the education of women through scholarships and other forms of financial aid.
The scholarship will be awarded during the second semester upon completing the required online information with PEO International and with Chapter D, Hampstead. If an applicant is successful they will be notified online.

Lions, Scouts hosts fundraiser
ATKINSON — The Atkinson Lions and the Atkinson Cub Scouts will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, April 1,3 at Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St.
The menu will feature pancakes, eggs, sausages, juice, and coffee.
The cost is $12 for adults, $5 for children under age 10.
Any profits will go back to the community and also support the Atkinson Cub Scouts. Come enjoy a great breakfast and say hi to your neighbors.
Easter services at Island Pond
HAMPSTEAD — Island Pond Baptist Church cordially invites the public to Easter weekend services at the church located at 26 North Salem Road.
A Good Friday service will be held at 6 p.m. April 18. No childcare is available, but kids are welcome in this family friendly service.
There will be two unique services on Easter, April 20. A short, 6:30 a.m. sunrise service in the parking lot, with a free breakfast to follow, and at 10:30 a.m, they will have a full morning service. Come to one, or come to both.
Children’s ministry is available for ages 0 to 13 at the 10:30 a.m. service. You can also join online by going to their main Facebook page or YouTube channel. Look for the “live” post.

Boating safety course at library
ATKINSON — New Hampshire Boating Safety Course will be offered at the Kimball Library from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 3. Registrants must attend both evenings.
The classroom course covers a variety of topics, including boat navigation, boating safety equipment, invasive aquatic species, and laws and rules. This instructor-led class consists of lecture, video, and student discussion.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will leave with a boating certificate valid for 45 days. The permanent certificate card will be mailed to the address entered at the time of registration.

Garden Club scholarship
ATKINSON — Atkinson Garden Club will award a $1,500 scholarship to an Atkinson resident and graduating high school senior who is planning to further their education in horticulture, landscaping, conservation, forestry, agriculture, ecology, botany, environmental engineering, biology, and related subjects.
The application deadline is May 2. The scholarship will be awarded for the second semester tuition charges.

PLAISTOW — Plaistow is looking for volunteers to help plan Old Home Day 2025.

KINGSTON — New Creation Healing Center is offering a three-hour program where you can hear from experienced clinicians on a variety of topics that will give you take-home tools that you can use immediately.
Dr. Mary Pearson, for over 30 years a family practice physician in the area, will offer two talks: “Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind,” and “The Power to Change: Exercise and Prayer.”
Veteran counselor Judy Howell will present, “How to Change Your Feelings by Changing Your Thoughts.”
The Rev. Canon Mark Pearson, author of a widely used book “Christian Healing: A Practical and Comprehensive Guide,” has as his topic, “Inner Healing: Healing for Damaged Emotions.”
Susanna Browne, a music teacher in a Home School Cooperative, will speak on “Don’t Let Social Media Make You Crazy: How to Use Social Media Controls to Make Your Life Better.”
