JAY — A Jay man has been charged with child exploitation along with promotion and possession of child sex abuse material after an investigation.
The New York State Police Troop B Computer Crime Unit, in coordination with the NYS Police Special Operations Response Team, Homeland Security Investigations and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Branch, arrested Albert D. Leon, 57, of Jay.
A search warrant operation was conducted Tuesday morning.
Leon was arrested and charged for crimes committed in Plattsburgh, Chesterfield and Jay.
In Plattsburgh, he faces one count each of possession of an obscene performance by a child and possession of a sexual performance by a child.
In Chesterfield, he faces two counts of possession of an obscene performance by a child and one count of possession of a sexual performance by a child, as well as two counts of obscenity, two counts of promoting an obscene performance by a child and one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child.
In Jay, he faces 12 counts each for promoting an obscene performance by a child and possession of an obscene performance by a child, as well as 11 counts each of promoting a sexual performance by a child and possession of a sexual performance by a child.
Leon was also arrested on a federal charge of one count of transportation of child pornography.
Leon was arraigned in the Elizabethtown Town Court and remanded to the Essex County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted jointly by state police and HSI.
