OLDTOWN — A dog reportedly alerted an East Wilson Road woman to a fire early Sunday that caused about $100,000 damage to her home, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The homeowner, Kaylee Trenum, was not injured when the fire broke out about 12:30 a.m. on the rear deck of the single-story home.
The fire marshal’s office said embers from a portable fire pit under the deck ignited combustibles and vegetation.
Smoke alarms in the home activated when the fire broke out, according to the fire marshal’s office.
Firefighters from Oldtown and surrounding companies controlled the fire at 18788 E. Wilson Road in about 30 minutes, investigators said.
