Nicollet County Historical Society will be offering guided tours of its 1851 Treaty of Traverse des Sioux exhibit.
This year marks 175 years since the treaty was signed at 1851 N. Minnesota Ave., on the north edge of St. Peter.
Tours dates are June 9 and 27, July 21 and 25, and Aug. 4 and 22. Cost is $5 per person. NCHS members may tour for free.
Space is limited to 20 participants per tour. Registration in advance is required and may be made at: nchsmn.org/events.
The Treaty Site History Center is at the site where the 1851 Treaty of Traverse des Sioux was signed 175 years ago. This treaty between Dakota leaders and U.S. government representatives added millions of acres of Dakota land to the U.S., significantly impacting Dakota communities and the future of southern Minnesota.
Waterville’s 61st Bullhead Days set
Bullhead Days kicks off Friday in Waterville. The three-day, annual town celebration include a fishing contest, carnival, live music, fireworks, a classic car roll-in, a pageant cribbage tournaments and other games.
Several vendors will set up booths outdoors throughout the festival.
The 61st Annual Bullhead Days Grand Parade will wind through downtown Waterville in the early afternoon June 7.

Smithsonian exhibit showing in Cox House
A Smithsonian Institution poster exhibit, “Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence” will be displayed on the main floor of the historic E. St. Julien Cox House, 500 N. Washington Ave., St. Peter.
The public may view the exhibit in conjunction with self-guided tours of the Victorian-style house that will be available after 1 p.m. June 6 and on other selected dates this summer.
The poster exhibit explores the women’s suffrage movement and connects it to local history through the life of Lillien Cox, who grew up in the house and was the first woman to serve as mayor in Minnesota history.
At the beginning of the free tours, representatives of Nicollet County Historical Society will provide a brief introduction and a printed guide to the rooms.
Reservations are not required. Free-will donations will be accepted and will be used to maintain the home.
“Votes for Women” is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Portrait Gallery. The project received support from the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative.

Golf tourney to benefit YMCA
Registration is open for an annual golf tournament/fundraiser for programming at Mankato Family YMCA.
Scheels is the sponsor for this year’s event which is 1 p.m. June 8 at North Links Golf Course.
Participants can register individually for $160 per golfer. Team registration is $640. The fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart, all games, lunch, dinner and prizes.
