NEWBURYPORT — It is time to register for the ninth annual If This House Could Talk (ITHCT). The event starts at the beginning of Yankee Homecoming on July 26, and residents are asked to keep posters up for two weeks. Sponsored by the Newburyport Preservation Trust, ITHCT encourages homeowners to hang a poster that tells a story about their house. Stories can be house histories, architectural information, photographs, or reminiscences of important and not-so-important events. The posters are a fun way for residents and visitors to learn more about Newburyport’s houses, people, and history.
The Archival Center of the Library offers walk-in hours to help with house research on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 p.m., on June 25, July 2, July 9, and July 16. For research help on other days of the week, contact the archival center for an appointment at info@newburyportpl.org.
The Museum of Old Newbury also offers research assistance. To schedule an appointment, send a request to: info@newburyhistory.org. Free foam core board is available for participants at the archival center.
For additional information, to register a house, or to see the list of participants, visit the If This House Could Talk website (walknewburyport.com). House registration closes July 24.
