FRIDAY RESULTS
Edmeston/Morris 3, Franklin 2, OT
Sierra Coyle made her first varsity goal count.
Coyle got a ball near the 18 and sent it into the goal with about three minutes left in the second overtime to send host Edmeston/Morris, the No. 2 seed, to the Tri-Valley League girls soccer championship with a win over No. 3 Franklin on Friday, Oct. 10, in Edmeston.
Franklin took a 1-0 lead into halftime, following a long goal by Shannon Kingsbury with about 10 minutes left in the half.
Amira Ross scored four minutes into the second half to tie the game.
Peyton Woodard scored with 16:25 left in the half to give the Purple Devils the lead again.
Ross tied the game with 26.2 seconds left in regulation.
“Key players in this game were Edmeston/Morris player Chelsey Clegg, who man marked Shannon Kingsbury (and) Edmeston/Morris goalie McKenzie Thall who had some key saves,” said E/M Coach Rhoda Flint.
E/M led Franklin in shots, 19-13, but trailed in corner kicks, 10-4.
Daniella DeSilva had 12 saves for Franklin (11-3).
Thall made 13 saves for Edmeston/Morris (10-4), which plays top seeded Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young in the TVL finals Saturday, Oct. 18, time and date to be determine.
Richfield Springs/ODY 2, Milford 1
Issy Seamon and Abby Jones had goals as top-seeded Richfield Spring/Owen D. Young won a Tri-Valley League playoff game against No. 4 seeded Milford on Friday in Richfield Springs.
The Eagles outshot the Wildcats, 10-5, and had an advantage in corner kicks, 6-2.
Zoe Stanley scored for Milford.
Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young (12-2) will play No. 2 seeded Edmeston/Morris in the TVL championship game.
Laurens 5, Worcester 0
Kyrah Andrades had two goals and an assist, and Kelsey Cox scored two goals as No. 5 seeded Laurens won a Tri-Valley League playoff game against Worcester on Thursday in Laurens.
The Leopards outshot the Wolverines, 17-3, and had an advantage in corner kicks, 6-4.
Gillian LeBeau also scored for Laurens, which got three saves from Ryleigh Williams.
Zoey Griffin made 13 saves for Worcester.
Laurens (7-6-1) hosts No. 6 seeded Sharon Springs for a playoff game Monday, Oct. 13.
THURSDAY RESULTS VOLLEYBALL
Delaware Academy 3, Walton 2
Rebecca Verspoor had eight aces, 38 assists, five kills, 18 digs and 10 service points as host Delaware Academy rallied for a big Midstate Athletic Conference win Thursday over Walton, 23-25, 24-26, 25-7, 25-18, 15-9.
The Bulldogs also won the junior varsity match, 3-0.
For Delaware Academy (12-0, 9-0): Giorgia Dewitt had four aces, 19 kills, four digs and eight service points. Carly Guy had 11 aces, 13 kills, 13 digs and 19 service points. Kalani Clapper had five aces, seven kills, nine digs, 14 service points. Peyton Maney had two aces, two kills, nine digs and service points. Ella O’leary had kills and three service points.
For Walton (11-1, 7-1): Lily Klinegardner had eight kills and seven service points. Chloe Edward had five aces, 22 assists and service points. Katelyn Gregory had eight kills. Olivia Bartlett had three blocks. Olivia Barnes had two blocks. Sophia Nichols had 11 digs.
GIRLS SOCCER
Cooperstown 2, Sauquoit Valley 1
Freshman Lanie Nelen and senior Mia Pelcer had first half goals as Cooperstown won a Center State Conference Division II match Thursday, Oct. 9, against rival Sauquoit Valley.
Junior Ruby Stevenson assisted on Nelen’s goal, about 16 minutes into the game.
Sophomore Claire Baldo put a through ball into the box with about 4:39 left in the half to set up Pelcer’s goal.
Sauquoit scored with 13:28 left on a goal by Makayla Land, assisted by Tristyn Williams.
“Sauquoit was 12-0 going into to this game,” Coach Jennifer Pindar said. “The last we beat them was in 2019 in double OT. This is a huge for our team, I am very proud of them and what they accomplished tonight.”
SV outshot Cooperstown, 23-14, but the Hawkeye led in corner kicks, 3-2.
Allyson Brennan had nine saves for Sauquoit Valley (12-1, 5-1).
Eighth grader Emma Johnson made 17 saves for Cooperstown (6-8, 5-3), which will host Waterville for a division match Tuesday, Oct. 14.
