Christian Heritage School punished region opponent Chattooga County for four quarters on Friday, beating the visiting Indians 80-34.
It was only the third time in 33 years the Indians had been held to under 40 points.
The Lions are now 11-0 in Region 7A D1 and 16-1 overall.
The win was the ninth straight for the home team since its loss to Walker Valley on Dec. 30. The average margin of victory during that stretch has been 30 points.
The Lions jumped out quickly on Friday.
Senior Isaac Plavich scored nine points in the opening quarter, and senior Dontae Crowder added six points.
More importantly, the Lions played smothering defense. Chattooga, normally a high-scoring team featuring senior guard Dan Meyer (averaging 20 points per game), rarely got off an unhurried shot.
Christian Heritage led 22-10 at the end of the first quarter, thanks in part to Plavich’s three-pointer with two seconds left.
The Lions expanded their lead during the next eight minutes.
Nigel Broome scored 11 points in the second quarter and the Lions led 41-19 at the midway break.
The Lions kept up the pressure all the way to the final seconds of the game and went home with a surprisingly easy win over the second-ranked team in the region.
Broome led all scorers with 18 points.
Crowder added 16 points and Plavich 15 in the winning cause.
For Chattooga, Meyer finished with 14 points. D.J. Etchison scored eight.
The Lions are set to hit the road on Monday to play The Dalton Academy (after newspaper deadline) and Armuchee on Tuesday.
