Fresh a nice showing at the North sectional championships, Hamilton-Wenham senior Katherine Reed has been voted the Cape Ann League’s girls Swimmer of the Year.
Reed was one of several local swimmers honored as the CAL announced its annual swimming award winners this week. Generals coach Angela Ceriello was voted CAL Coach of the Year while freshman Zoey Ceriello-Zachetta earned first-team All-CAL honors in two different events, the 200 free and the 100 back. Sydney Hemme was also All-CAL in the 100 breast.
Among the second team all-stars, Hamilton-Wenham’s 200 medley and 400 free relays were honored along with Libby McKinnon in the 100 free.
From Ipswich, Maddy Marini (500 free, 100 breast) and the 400 free relay received second team recognition and the Tigers got the CAL girls sportsmanship award.
Triton’s Ava Connolly was Diver of the Year and the Vikings won both the dual meet and league meet titles.
Hamilton-Wenham got the sportsmanship award on the boys side while Colin Conway (200-IM, 100 breast) and Bennett Powers (100 breast) were second-team all-stars.
Ipswich’s Micah Hanchett (200-IM) and Brayden Marini (500 free) were also CAL all-stars.
Boys major awards went to Triton’s Sam Whitaker and Josh Adler (co-Swimmers of the Year) and Sean Lucy (Diver of the Year). Jeff Boyd of the Lynnfield/Wakefield co-op was boys Coach of the Year.
