Cumberland County Habitat for Humanity blessed its 83rd home Nov. 9.
The blessing is a special milestone in the homebuilding process. Once the home is framed in, family, friends and volunteers come together to bless the home in prayer and Scripture.
Homebuyer Patrice Turner asked her friend, former Habitat homebuyer Brenda Jones, to do the honor of blessing her home.
During her remarks, Jones read from Ecclesiastes, reminding those in attendance that for everything there is a season.
“This is Patrice’s time to dance,” Jones said.
Family and friends inscribed the bare studs with lots of Bible verses and well wishes.
Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. They aim to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter, believing that affordable housing is essential for strong and stable communities.
