BEEKMANTOWN — The weather behaved Thursday as the Eagles and Patriots competed on the track.
Beekmantown swept a majority of the events to win the overall meet.
On the boys side, while the Eagles won 14 of 16 events, it was a wide variety of competitors that won events.
Jon Slick was the only Beekmantown athlete to double on the day winning the 1,600 and 400 hurdles.
AuSable Valley’s Celton DuPuis continues to show his versatility, as he won the shot put and discus.
On the girls side, it was more of the same.
While five Eagles doubled on the day, the highlight came from AVCS’ Emma Pelkey, who won four different events.
This included setting a new school record in the 100 hurdles, of 16.3. She also won the long jump, high jump and was on the 4×100 relay team.
Emily Marro started the run of doubles for the Eagles with wins in the 400 hurdles and 3,000. Ella Laidman added the 1,500 and was on the 4×800 relay team with Bristol Provost who also grabbed a win in the 800.
Rhianna Gilligan’s two wins came in the 200 and 4×400.
Kylie Bishop once again swept the discus and shot put events.
“Weather conditions were ideal for good performances tonight as opposed to Tuesday’s meet,” Beekmantown’s Kathy Champagne said. “Although Beekmantown won the meet, Emma Pelkey had many strong performances including winning the 100 Hurdles in a new school record.”
