FROSTBURG — Frostburg State men’s lacrosse earned three weekly honors in the East Coast Conference (ECC) on Monday.
Senior goalkeeper Logan Covey was named ECC Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career, while senior Alex Walstrum and sophomore Baylor Davis earned a spot on the Honor Roll.
Last Tuesday against Wilimington, Covey broke a program record with 24 saves in a single game.
Covey surpassed Tyler Haines who recorded 22 saves twice, most recently in a 2014 game against Salisbury.
Across two games, Covey racked up a total of 34 saves, allowing just 12 goals.
During the Bobcats’ 10-3 home win over D’Youville in their conference opener, Covey made 10 saves, allowing just three goals, while again going for four ground balls and a CT.
Receiving a spot on the ECC Honor Roll for the second straight week is Walstrum, as he combined for a 14-for-19 outing in the X across the team’s two games.
Walstrum went 6-of-11 against the Wildcats earlier in the week, scooping up four ground balls, before going a perfect 8-for-8 in FSU’s victory over the Saints, being credited with five ground balls.
In his first appearances of the season, Davis recorded four total goals an assist throughout Frostburg’s 1-1 week.
He was the lone Bobcat to score multiple goals in their 9-7 loss to WU, following up with three points on a pair of goals and an assist in their win over DYU.
The Bobcats (3-3, 1-0 ECC) headed to New England for a pair of games.
Frostburg played at No. 18 St. Michael’s on Tuesday in Vermont before traveling to No. 11 Bentley in Massachusetts on Thursday at 7 p.m.
