St. John’s Prep 35, BC High 0: Sophomore quarterback Chris Vargas threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns — including two to senior captain Pierson Scala, making his first appearance of the season — as the state’s top ranked team kept rolling.
Sophomore Riley Selvais had the other two touchdown receptions for St. John’s Prep (now 5-0), with junior running back Maxwell Parent adding a rushing score. Both Bo Minogue and Dayvian Sullivan picked off passes for the winners, who saw Jordan Toribio finish with a 2-point conversion rush and Liam Cullen successfully hit 3-of-4 point-after kicks.
Bishop Fenwick 43, Cardinal Spellman 0: Scoring all of their points in the first half, the Crusaders (2-3) snapped a two-game losing streak convincingly with a road victory in Brockton. Captain Dylan Patturelli led the Fenwick ground attack with 119 yards rushing on just six carries and scored three touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Jamie Dube also had a big game with a receiving score, a punt return for another touchdown and an interception.
Amesbury 45, Hamilton-Wenham 0: Against the unbeaten Redhawks, the host Generals found themselves down 16 points after one quarter and 32 at the break and were unable to come back. Captain Caden Schrock had 39 of his team’s 70 rushing yards, with freshman wide receiver Finn Creilson catching four passes for 73 yards from junior quarterback Anthony Folger.
North Reading 35, Essex Tech 6: The Hawks (2-3) tightened up defensively after halftime and didn’t allow any more points, but they still saw their two-game winning streak snapped. Essex Tech’s lone score came in the first quarter.
