LOCKPORT — A Falls man who was free on bail after a felony drug possession indictment is back behind bars following his arrest on burglary and other related charges stemming from a stand-off with Falls police.
State Supreme Court Justice Mario Giacobbe ordered Garrien Ferrone Tillman jailed pending a bail hearing scheduled for Friday. Niagara County prosecutors moved Monday to revoke Tillman’s release on bail after an incident Wednesday in the 1100 block of 13th Street.
Falls Police patrol officers responded to a call of an “unknown disturbance” at a home there about 3:40 p.m. As officers arrived on the scene, they were told a male suspect had broken into the residence through the back door and was “in possession of a firearm.”
When officers went to the rear of the home, they said they saw a male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, standing in the first-floor doorway. The man, later identified as Tillman, reportedly ran into the home and shut the first-floor door behind him.
Officers said they established a perimeter around the home and called for additional units to respond. Photos taken at the scene showed officers with weapons drawn and carrying semi-automatic rifles.
Police said they were able to contact Tillman by phone inside the house but he refused to come out. Officers said they also used a patrol car public address system to call for Tillman to exit the residence.
A group of officers then forced their way into the home. They said they were able to locate an uninjured victim and escort them out of the house.
The officers said they searched the home room by room until they found Tillman on the second floor of the residence. Tillman was then taken into custody at gunpoint.
Police said they did not locate any firearms in the home.
Tillman, 42, 3342 Ninth St., was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree menacing and third-degree criminal mischief.
