NEWBURYPORT — During November and December, the Parker River Wildlife Refuge features local artist Patricia Lane Evans as its artist of the month. Her exhibit contains photographs of classic New England landscapes as well as many watercolors of flowers and moments in nature.
Evans’ work reflects her childhood on the Parker River in Newbury as well as her father’s influence. He introduced her to photography by showing her how to use his Argus camera when she was 12 years old and she was instantly hooked. She earned a fine arts minor with a concentration in studio photography at Merrimack College while pursuing her bachelor’s degree in accounting.
In conjunction with the exhibit, Evans will offer a watercolor workshop on Dec. 7 at the refuge’s visitor center from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information or to register, contact the Friends of Parker River at Friends@parkerriver.org. Evans’ work is at Parker River Visitor Center, 6 Plum Island Turnpike, Newburyport through Dec. 31.
