BAKER, W.Va. — The No. 2 seed East Hardy was raining triples, burying 19 in a 92-33 rout of No. 7 Pocahontas County in Friday’s Class A, Region II Semifinal.
Jordan Teets was responsible for seven 3-pointers and led all scorers with 23 points for the Cougars (18-5).
Teets scored 17 points in the first half off five triples.
Evan Hamilton knocked down six triples and finished with 20 points while Mason Hamilton buried four 3-pointers and scored 15 points.
Aubrey McCullough entered in the second half and scored 10 points.
Dillon Dunz led the Warriors with 11 points.
East Hardy advanced to play No. 3 Tygarts Valley on Wednesday in the co-Region Final.
Lewis Co. 66, Frankfort 56
WESTON, W.Va. — Frankfort’s season came to an end on Friday, falling 66-56 at Lewis County in the Class AAA, Region II semifinals.
The No. 3 seed Minutemen (11-10) were led by Ben Putnam’s game-high 29 points.
Putnam scored 10 of Lewis County’s 13 points in the first quarter and had 18 points at halftime.
Manny Robinson scored all 14 of his points in the second half while Lukas Moodispaw scored eight of 10 points after the break.
Jeremy Phillips led the No. 6 seed Falcons (11-11) with 16 points off four 3-pointers.
Jake Layton finished with 14 points while Uriah Cutter recorded 10.
Frankfort hosted Lewis County on Feb. 22 and lost 99-56.
The Falcons trailed Friday’s rematch 13-9, 27-23 and 49-43 after the first three quarters.
The Minutemen advanced to play No. 2 Robert C. Byrd in the co-region final.
Liberty 55, Petersburg 50
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Petersburg trimmed a 16-point halftime deficit to single digits, but Liberty held on in a Class AA, Region II semifinal.
Petersburg finishes with a 12-11 record.
Isaiah Heflin (14 points), Jeremiah Williams (13) and Baustin Bowers (11) finished in double figures for Liberty.
Payton Metheny led the way for the Vikings with 20 points, going 9 for 9 at the charity stripe.
Liberty led 12-5 after the first quarter and 30-14 at halftime. Petersburg got back in the game winning the third period 24-13 to get within 43-38, but the Vikings couldn’t get over the hump.
Liberty is a win away from a trip to the state tournament. It heads to top-seeded Doddridge County on Wednesday.
Tygarts Valley 78, Paw Paw 60
MILL CREEK, W.Va. — Jacob Wamsley scored 31 points to power Tygarts Valley past Paw Paw on Friday in a Class A, Region II semifinal.
The Vikings (8-15) trailed 19-9 after the first quarter, 39-25 at halftime and 61-46 after three quarters.
Donovan Tanouye led Paw Paw with 30 points, his 10th game this year with 30 or more points. He finishes the season with an area-best 631 points.
Taylor Carder added 15 points for the Pirates.
Tygarts Valley heads to East Hardy Wednesday, with the winner advancing to the state tournament.
Pendleton Co. 61, Union 45
FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Union led after a quarter, but Pendleton pulled ahead with a 21-7 second period and never looked back to win Friday in a Class A, Region II semifinal.
Union ends with an 11-11 record, the program’s first season since 2016 in which it didn’t have a losing record. The Tigers went 0-23 two years ago.
Union led 14-10 after the first quarter and trailed 31-21 at the half and 45-31 after three quarters.
Braylon Ward and Jacob Haynes ended in double figures for Union, scoring 17 and 10 points, respectively.
Leading Pendleton in scoring were Travis Owens with 18 points and Josiah Kimble with 16.
Pendleton is at Tucker County in the co-region finals Wednesday.
