The board of trustees for Danville Area Community College accepted a “retirement resignation” agreement with former president Dr. Stephen Nacco as of 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, according to Board Chair David Harby.
After a brief closed session with the Board of Trustees Thursday evening, the board voted to accept Nacco’s resignation, effective Dec. 13. All trustees voted in favor except Logan Haun and Sandra Finch, who both abstained from the vote.
Nacco could return from administrative leave as early as Friday, Oct. 25 and will only work two days a week until his final day with the college, Harby said.
According to Dr. Harby, Nacco will receive 20 weeks of pay, per Illinois state law. No further details of the six-page agreement were available to the public as of Thursday at 8 p.m.
Dr. Carl Bridges, Provost and Interim President, will work alongside Nacco to conclude his time with the college before taking over the full responsibility of interim president until a new president can be selected — a process which Dr. Bridges says could take until the Fall 2025 semester.
Dr. Nacco was not in attendance at the trustee meeting, while Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr was.
This is a developing story.
