PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh’s Downtown Trick or Treat is returning later this month.
On Saturday, Oct. 26 from noon to 2 p.m., the city, in partnership with The Z Group Real Estate, will be hosting the fifth annual event. Participants will be able to stop by over 30 downtown businesses for a treat.
This year’s festivities will feature a downtown business storefront decorating contest — with the winner chosen by the public — a dance performance by Center Stage Dance group and free face painting in Trinity Park. Amanda Dagley from Electric Zee will be set up in Trinity Park DJing a set of “spook-tacular” tunes as well.
Participants do not have to follow a designated route around downtown but are asked to obey traffic laws and signals.
“We’re thrilled to see the Downtown Trick or Treat event grow each year and bring so much joy to families in our community,” Emma Stewart, city community engagement coordinator, said.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for residents to come together, celebrate, and showcase the vibrant spirit of our downtown businesses. We can’t wait to see all the creative costumes and smiling faces again this year!”
The city will also be transforming Trinity Park into a “Spooky Park” during event hours, so local businesses and organizations that do not have a downtown storefront can participate in handing out treats.
Costumes are not mandatory but highly encouraged.
The Downtown Trick or Treat and Trinity Park Spooky Park events are free and no registration is required.
Local downtown businesses that would like to be added to the list of participating businesses can email events@cityofplattsburgh-ny.gov no later than Monday, Oct. 21.
