Fort Hill standout Deshaun Brown was named Class 1A first-team All-State by the Maryland Basketball Coaches Association this week.
Brown made the top squad alongside Darnell Dantzler Jr. and Chase Foster of state champion Edmondson and Koby Ennals and LaShaun Moody from runner-up Cambridge-South Dorchester.
The second team was comprised of John Bryan (Central), Keionte Johnson (Surrattsville), Drew Pape (Patterson Mill), Devin Thomas (CMIT-North) and Ja’Von Tyler (Smithsburg).
Brown helped Fort Hill to a 20-5 finish, second consecutive state semifinals appearance and second straight area championship.
The senior guard was awarded area boys basketball Player of the Year after he scored 483 points and was fourth in the area in scoring average (19.3 points per game), tied for fifth in steals (2.5 spg), sixth in 3-pointers per game (1.84), seventh in assists (3.5 apg) and seventh in free-throw percentage at 72.5% (95-131).
Brown, also an All-Area honorable mention quarterback, will continue his football career at Albright College, a Division III school in Reading, Pennsylvania.
