Lane Macumber and Peyton Fortunato combined on a four-hitter with nine strikeouts as Deposit won the 2026 Osenango PONY League title Thursday, July 23, with a 17-3 win over Stamford/Jefferson/South Kortright at Oneonta’s Damaschke Field.
Deposit benefited from nine errors and banged out 17 hits.
Trailing 2-0 on solo runs in the top of the second and third, S/J/SK scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take the lead. Macumber had breezed through the lineup the first time, but the top of the order caught up to him during the second cycle. Consecutive singles by George Nebesnik, Garrett Dropp, Charlie Miller and Braeden Rockefeller scored Nebesnik and loaded the bases. Dropp and Miller then scored on a fielder’s choice.
However, Deposit came back with 11 runs in the next two innings to put the game away.
Dropp took the loss for S/J/SK.
Macumber, a soon-to-be senior at Windsor, gave up four hits and three runs while striking out five to get the win.
Fortunato pitched three hitless, scoreless innings of relief, striking out four.
Deposit, the Division A winner, finished undefeated in summer league, going 10-0 during the regular season then winning three playoff games.
S/J/SK, the Division B winner, finished 10-3.
