ROMNEY, W.Va. — Roscoe Dean rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns, Hampshire exploded for 513 yards and the Trojans crushed Washington, 41-0, on Friday night.
Hampshire’s 6-3 record ensures it will finish with a winning record for the first time since going 6-4 in 2013, which was also its last six-win campaign.
The Trojans, led by second-year coach Donny Evans, were up 7-0 after the first quarter, 21-0 at the half and 35-0 going into the fourth.
Dean needed just 14 carries to approach 200 yards, finding the end zone on bursts of 81, 44 and two yards.
Landon Eversole completed 10 of 23 passes for 248 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. The Hampshire quarterback connected with Matthew Medina for a 25-yard score in the second quarter.
Sean King ended with 44 yards and a touchdown on six totes, and Brent Evans scored a one-yard TD.
Colten Fleming hauled in three passes for 110 yards, Andrew Loy made two receptions for 47 yards, and Blane Billmeyer caught two balls for 44 yards.
Hampshire’s defense held Washington (3-5) to 62 yards on 30 carries and 240 yards of offense.
Patriots quarterback Kyle Athey completed 12 of 26 attempts for 178 yards and an interception. He was also the team’s leading rusher with 18 carries for 34 yards.
Colson Kinser had two sacks to lead the Hampshire defense, and Tanner Netzer intercepted a pass. Washington’s Mario Price and Chris Durand picked off Eversole.
Hampshire has a bye before ending its season at Tucker County (5-3) on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m.
