Dalton Public Schools officials want families to know that when winter weather becomes a possibility the school system has a comprehensive weather response system to ensure the safety of students, staff and families.
“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” said Superintendent Steven Craft. “With a dedicated team, we are prepared to respond effectively to any weather challenges.”
The Weather Response Team, led by Craft, includes key leadership members who monitor weather conditions and make informed decisions. This team includes in addition to Craft:
— Nick Sun, deputy superintendent.
— Robert Shaw, associate superintendent of student support services.
— Kendra Pannell, executive director of communications.
— Jeff Wells, director of safety and security.
— Leadership representatives from all school levels.
The team members work with local safety and law enforcement agencies, as well as the National Weather Service, to analyze conditions and make decisions about closures or delays. They consider factors such as road safety, transportation logistics and overall community impact.
To ensure families receive timely updates, Dalton Public Schools communicates through multiple platforms, including:
— Remind App notifications.
— Text messages, phone calls and emails.
