A trip to one of Niagara County’s museums or other attractions could soon come with a discount on admission to another, thanks to a new program connecting local cultural attractions.
The Cultural Alliance of Niagara has launched a reciprocal membership program offering discounts and other benefits at participating arts, cultural and historical organizations.
The CAN Reciprocal Membership Program allows members of participating organizations to receive special benefits at other member institutions, including discounted admission, gift shop savings, special event access and waived fees.
The program is intended to encourage residents and visitors to explore more of the county’s cultural attractions while supporting the organizations that operate them.
“Niagara County is home to an incredible network of cultural organizations, many of which people may not realize are right in their own backyard,” said Alexandria Lang, CAN’s president. “This program invites our communities to explore more, experience more, and support the organizations that help make Niagara County such a vibrant place to live and visit all while receiving discounts and benefits.”
Participating organizations include the Aquarium of Niagara, Artpark, Castellani Art Museum, Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum, the Kenan Center, Lewiston Council on the Arts, Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center, Niagara History Center, Old Fort Niagara and Prophet Isiah Robertson Second Coming House.
CAN said the initiative is part of its mission to promote and connect arts and cultural organizations throughout Niagara County while expanding audiences and increasing participation in cultural activities.
Recent research identified more than 235 arts and cultural organizations across Niagara County, supporting hundreds of jobs and contributing to the region’s economy and quality of life, according to CAN.
The alliance said the reciprocal program is part of its ongoing effort to strengthen the county’s cultural infrastructure and increase awareness of the variety of experiences available throughout the region.
