A Cooperstown running standout became the first track and field athlete to win The Daily Star’s Athlete of the Week Award.
Jameson Gable, a senior sprinter for the Hawkeyes, won the award for the week ending May 2.
Gable won the Track Athlete of the Meet Award at the Don Howard Invitational on May 2. He won the 100, the 200 and was part of the winning relay team in the 400.

The Athlete of the Week nominations for the week of May 3-May 9, are:
Jenevie Gallusser, Oneonta softball: Gallusser, a sophomore pitcher and short stop, had a milestone week for the Yellowjackets. She got her 200th strikeout as part of an 11K effort against host Johnson City on May 9. She also had a home run, scored three times and had two RBI. Earlier in the day, against Sidney, she had a double, scored two runs and had three RBI. Gallusser also had a pitching win against Norwich on May 7, striking out nine and scoring three times.
Aubrey Smith, Deposit/Hancock softball: Smith had a no-hitter and struck out seven for the Eagles in a 15-0 win over Oxford Academy in Deposit on May 7.
Sophie Robinson, Edmeston/Morris softball: Robinson, a junior at Edmeston, came up big for E/M in the Tri-Valley League semifinals against Laurens/Milford on May 8. Robinson had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, a triple, for a 15-14 win. She scored four runs and had four RBI in the game.
Garrett Dropp, South Kortright/Margaretville baseball: Dropp, a sophomore at South Kortright, threw a one-hitter to help lead his team to a Delaware League regular-season title with a 3-2 win over Gilboa-Conesville/Roxbury in South Kortright on May 8. Dropp had 15 strikeouts for the Rams, which won the league championship game over G-C/R a week later after another strong performance on the mount by Dropp.
Allen Osborne, Schenevus/Charlotte Valley baseball: Osborne, a Schenevus senior pitcher, helped his team to the Tri-Valley League title game with 11 strikeouts in a 13-3 semifinal win over Worcester in Schenevus on May 7. He also doubled twice and scored two runs.
Nolan Stark, Oneonta baseball: Stark, a senior short stop and pitcher, had a dramatic effect on Oneonta’s 13-4 win at Susquehanna Valley on May 8. He had a home run, a triple and five RBI. Stark also threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts in a May 4 win over SV. He had a home run in that game, too.
