CUMBERLAND — New access systems are being implemented at the Center City and Frederick Street parking garages.
The new systems are designed to allow easier access and will be implemented on Dec. 8.
Permit holders will receive new access cards with a QR code for touchless access, which will replace current cards. Users will hold the card near the reader to gain entry.
A new customer portal will allow permit holders to manage their permits, including making payments and other details.
The city will no longer send out renewal invoices via letter once the new system is implemented. Permit payments can still be made at the city’s Tax and Utility Payment Office on the first floor of City Hall.
Permit holders at the Frederick Street garage will receive removable stickers for their vehicle windows, which will indicate their designated parking level.
For Center City garage permit holders, a license plate reader will grant access automatically when a license plate number is entered into the system.
The Center City garage will also feature walk-up payment stations, providing an option for visiting patrons to pay without needing to scan a credit card for entry or exit. Additionally, online payment via mobile phone will be available.
