CUMBERLAND — A city man was arrested Saturday following an attack in the Market Street area, Cumberland Police said.
Christopher Cook, 29, is accused of hitting the victim in the head with a blunt object, punching and biting him.
When officers arrived, they reportedly found the victim, who said he was walking through the area when the attack occurred, bleeding from the head.
Cook was charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment in connection with the attack. He also faces a drug-related charge after police allegedly found paraphernalia in his possession and a failure to appear charge on a previous trespassing count.
Cook was being held in the Allegany County Detention Center on Sunday.
