For more than 50 years, the Oscar N. Jonas Memorial Foundation has provided art and art education programs for students in Dalton Public Schools, Whitfield County Schools and Murray County Schools. The foundation funds approximately 250 programs a year.
Susan Reams, chairman of the foundation’s board, has long played a vital role in the foundation’s success.
“She has been on the Jonas board for decades … ,” said Ellen Thompson, secretary of the foundation’s board. “She is in many ways the public face of the Jonas Foundation and has been active in raising funds through the years.”
Amanda Brown, another member of the foundation’s board and executive director of the Creative Arts Guild, said Reams “is a blessing to this community and every one of our students.”
“Through tremendous passion and tireless advocacy and support for arts programs of the highest quality in our schools as well as grants for arts projects and experiences in the classroom, Susan’s leadership as the Oscar N. Jonas Memorial Foundation board chair has inspired elevated programming and extended resources for our community’s children,” Brown said.
For her many efforts to bring the arts to the children of Whitfield and Murray counties, the Dalton Daily Citizen names Susan Reams Citizen of the Week.
