FROSTBURG — This fall, Frostburg State University’s Department of Music, Theatre and Dance sets sail on a comical adventure with “How I Became a Pirate” as part of the Roundabout Children’s Theatre Tour. The musical is based on the popular children’s story written by Melinda Long and illustrated by David Shannon.
A public performance will take place in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Woodward D. Pealer Performing Arts Center on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m.
“How I Became a Pirate” follows a band of comical pirates as they land on North Beach in search of an expert digger to join their crew. Braid Beard and his mates enlist the energetic Jeremy Jacob to help bury their treasure. Amidst the sailing adventure, young Jeremy learns that love and home are treasures you can’t find on any map.
Creative team members include TJ Kelly (Braid Beard), Kyle Wolford (Jeremy Jacob/sound design), Sharktooth (Shay Fochtman), Gracie Ray (Swill), Leah Boggs (Seymour/assistant music director), Kenzie Pein (Pierre), Sebastian Sainz (Max), Nicole Mattis (director), Michaela Hale (music direction), Grace Stevenson (choreography), Elijah Reed (stage manager), Mackenzie Guynes (tour manager), George Georgeson (scenic design/technical direction).
