MANKATO — Candidates have begun to submit their names for the four open seats on the Mankato Area Public Schools Board as filing gets underway for school districts and some municipal offices Tuesday.
Vice Chair Kristi Schuck, Christopher Kind, Erin Roberts and Liz Ratcliff currently hold the four-year term seats up for grabs.
None of the incumbents filed on opening day, but Tim Flynn of Eagle Lake, Elizabeth Hanke of Mankato and Tracy Frederick Corcoran of North Mankato joined the race, the school district said.
Flynn is a 1998 graduate of Mankato East High School and the owner of Kato Karate.
According to a news release, Flynn is committed to child development, mental health and anti-bullying platforms.
Hanke is the owner of Kato Escape.
Her campaign Facebook page says that she is running in-part to “champion transparency, accountability, and professional levels of free speech for our teachers and taxpayers.”
Corcoran, who is a life and leadership coach according to her LinkedIn profile, served as the Director of Teaching and Learning at Faribault Public Schools from July 2020 to Feb. 2023.
She has also worked at the Mankato district as an instructional curriculum coordinator, continuous improvement coach, teacher and more, her page says.
She also joined the Greater Mankato Diversity Council in 2023 as their educational director.
