Medina fell short of another Section VI championship game appearance, but it landed a bunch of postseason accolades.
The New York State Sportswriters Associated named senior defensive lineman Brody Fry Class C first-team all-state, headlined four Mustangs to be honored and eight Niagara County players.
Fry tallied 143 tackles and 24 of them came behind the line of scrimmage — both of which ranked third in Section VI — to lead a Medina defense that won a share of Class C North for the fourth consecutive season, the fifth league championship in a row for the program.
Junior running back Christian Moss was named second-team all-state after rushing for 1,850 yards and 26 touchdowns, while junior defensive back Kolton Fletcher was named second-team all-state after making 60 tackles and four interceptions. Senior kicker Cole Callard was voted third-team all-state after going 48 of 50 on extra points.
Newfane’s Ayden Buttery was named third-team all-state as a defensive back after recording 41 tackles and three interceptions.
Despite battling injuries, Starpoint linebacker Lucas Lombardo was named Class A second-team all-state after recording a team-high 77 tackles, with eight coming behind the line of scrimmage. Teammate Billy Bichler was a sixth-team all-state defensive back after making 31 tackles and three interceptions.
North Tonawanda running back Christian Earnst was also a sixth-team all-state selection after rushing for 1,042 yards and 12 touchdowns.
