SALEM — A boat caught fire at Pickering Wharf Marina overnight, Salem fire officials said.
The fire was reported at 3:38 a.m. along the Congress Street side of the marina, Salem Fire Deputy Scott Austin told a news photographer at the scene.
A blaze had broken out a boat that was 30-40 feet long, he said. Crews were able to contain the flames to that vessel, but some others likely suffered minor heat damage.
The boat is a total loss. No one was injured.
Temperatures in the single digits made it difficult for firefighters to fight the blaze, Austin said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
