Niagara County
• INJURY: Sheriff’s deputies responded to a possible structure fire on the 8400 block of Forest Road in Royalton at 2 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived at the home, the deputy found a man lying on the driveway with severe burns to his arms and legs. EMS personnel arrived at the scene at the same time as the deputy and began treating the man while the deputy extinguished the small fire in a garbage can. Relatives at the home said the man had been deep frying a turkey outside of the home when they heard a commotion and found him on the ground with serious burns. The deputy said the man appeared to be in shock and was taken to the Erie County Medical Center for further treatment.
• ARREST: Police arrested a woman while working a sobriety checkpoint on the 200 block of South Transit Road in the City of Lockport at approximately 10:18 p.m. Wednesday. The female driver, whose age and address were not disclosed, is charged with driving while intoxicated. She was given a ticket.
• LARCENY: Police are investigating a shoplifting incident on South Transit Road. A store associate told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that an unknown man grabbed merchandise valuing $1,196 and ran out of the store to a red pickup truck at 12:36 p.m. Wednesday. No exterior cameras could be found to identify the vehicle.
• STOLEN VEHICLE: Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle on the 7200 block of Ridgeview Drive West in Pendleton. The owner of the vehicle told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that he last saw his car in his driveway at 6:16 a.m. Nov. 26. The vehicle was located down the street with the keys inside. The victim said he’d like to pursue charges if a suspect is found.
• ARREST: Police arrested a man after a traffic stop on Saunders Settlement Road in Cambria at 9:27 p.m. Nov. 26. The man, whose age and address were not disclosed, is charged with driving while impaired by drugs. He was transported to Lockport Memorial Hospital for a blood draw and given a ticket.
• ANIMAL COMPLAINT: Police responded to an animal complaint on the 5300 block of Woodland Heights at 4:40 p.m. Nov. 26. The female victim told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that her neighbor allowed her dog to wrap its leash around her, causing her to fall. The victim requested emergency medical services but signed off rather than be transported by EMS. The deputy advised both neighbors to refrain from further contact.
• STOLEN VEHICLE: Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on the 5600 block of South Transit Road in the Town of Lockport at 5:15 a.m. Nov. 25. The male victim said his friend drove off with the vehicle. The friend was found and later the vehicle, but no keys. The victim said he didn’t want to press charges.
