OAKWOOD — Bobby Pierce says that he always tries to top the year before.
But after winning 38 times with some major first-time victories in 2024, the Oakwood racer said this it is going to be tough to top in 2025.
“It’s going to be hard to beat this one. A couple of first wins this year was Knoxville National the Dirt Track World Championship and Prairie Dirt Classic, which was huge,” Pierce said. “There are a lot of races that I wanted to win for the first time and I did, so that was cool and the World 100 is our most prestigious race.
“It is ridiculous to win all those races in one year, but when you are good, you are good and some things went my way in the big races. It is going to be hard to duplicate it. Every year, I try to do better than the last, but it’s going to be tough. I shoot my goals high, so we will go for 50.”
Pierce also added his second World 100 title, his third North/South 100 and the Gopher 50 among his wins. He finished in the top five 75 times and the top 10 84 times.
He was also second in the World of Outlaws and won his second straight XR Super Series Championship. In the WoO, the season started with a little controversy that gave Pierce an early setback, yet he rolled through to almost win his second straight series title.
“That was a mistake on their end and it lit a fire under me to race harder,” Pierce said. “It was a setback that made us decide if we were going to run the outlaw series and stuff like that, but I figured I could comeback and we did. We almost got there but we had some bad luck and some DNF’s along the way, but there is always the next year and we will see how it goes.”
Pierce last raced in the Gateway Dirt Nationals in December and has spent a part of the holiday season getting ready for the start of his season, which starts today at the Wild West Shootout at Vado Raceway Park in New Mexico.
“It’s a quick turnaround. It is hard to turn around that fast because we raced until December and you have the holidays,” Pierce said. “It is tough because your tour guys go on Christmas break, so it was mostly me and my dad (Bob Pierce) working on getting things ready and you have to get a new wrap done because we have new sponsors. It is a lot of work, but we loaded up the cars on Monday. So we are already packing up. I won four the six races last year and I hope we can duplicate that, and then we go to Florida for the first World of Outlaw races and get the ball rolling on that.”
