AMESBURY — LUNGSTRONG’s annual 5K run and 1.5-mile walk will be held Sunday, May 18, at 10 a.m. at 72 Cherry St. in Beverly. The registration fee is $45 for all those participating in either the 5K run or the 1.5-mile walk.
Lung cancer survivors can register free by entering the code SURVIVOR. Those wishing to register as a walk-in on the day of the event should arrive at 8:30 a.m.
“This family-friendly event gives 100% of race proceeds and donations to Mass General Cancer Center for Thoracic Cancer Research under the direction of Dr. Justin Gainor,” says Jill O’Leary, LUNGSTRONG board member. “This year’s event will be bittersweet, as we remember Diane Legg, founder of LUNGSTRONG, who lost her 20-year battle with lung cancer in December.”
The event will feature food from Big Rig BBQ, beer by True North Ale Company and music by the Mike Tebo band.
LUNGSTRONG has raised $8 million for innovative lung cancer research since its inception in 2011. For more information, visit www.lungstrong.org.
