HAGERSTOWN — Allegany took an eight-point lead into halftime, but Broadfording controlled the second half to win 65-60 on Friday night in the Campers’ opener.
Allegany (0-1) led 17-16 after the first quarter and 31-23 at the half. Spurred by a lopsided free-throw and foul disparity, Broadfording outscored the Campers, 42-29, in the second half to complete the comeback.
Broadfording shot 23 free throws to Allegany’s four, hitting 19 of them. The Campers were called for 13 more fouls, 22-9.
Allegany was hot from beyond the arc, making 11 3-pointers. Landon Holliday buried four triples as part of his 16 points, just shy of Chris Manherz’s team-high 17 points. Sebastian Stewart also finished in double figures with 11.
Mateusz Zgrajek paced Broadfording with 26 points and Fernando Garcia added 20.
Allegany hosts Clear Spring on Monday at 7 p.m.
