The Central Catholic boys and girls ski teams participated in the Mass Bay West Alpha Division races on Tuesday held at Nashoba Valley Ski Area.
The boys team finished fourth overall and were led by Chase Akstin, who finished first overall in the individual competition with a two-run time of 42.08 seconds, which was a full second better than the runner-up.
“Chase was expecting a big year this year. After finishing top in the league last year, he is looking to repeat that performance this year,” said head coach Adam Westaway. “Today he had a very strong and consistent race. He skated hard out of the gate and skied a tight fast line through the course, leading both the first and second run. Next week, we race slalom, which Chase is a bit stronger, so we are looking forward to changing disciplines for next week.”
After Akstin, Ofer Moritz finished 10th in 46.03, followed by Jack Quinn (15th, 46.81), Andrew Repici (33rd, 51:12) and Parker Stephenson (39th, 52.70).
The girls finished seventh as a team. Kaleah Perham was fourth overall in 47.86 seconds. She was followed by Grace Wofford (38th, 62.11), Addison Hughes (40th, 62.46), Morgan Bateman (45th, 67:41) and Mariela Staniec (46th, 69.05).
