The Niagara History Center is inviting the public to experience Christmases from times past when the Center presents ‘A Winter’s Eve Fest’ on Dec. 4.
Each of the 12 rooms in the historic Col. Wm. Bond House in Lockport (c. 1824) will be trimmed with decorations from a different period of the last 200 years.
The first brick home in Lockport, the Col. Bond House was owned by Col. William Bond – one of the original land owners in the village – and Jesse Hawley, whose 1806 essays inspired the creation of the Erie Canal. The ‘200 Years of Christmas’ theme of the Dec. 4 event celebrates the Bond House’s 201st anniversary in 2025.
Guests to ‘A Winter’s Eve Fest’ will be able to explore the three-story house to enjoy period furnishings and beautiful decorations created by volunteer Becky Pittler. The annual event is always a popular way to begin the holiday season.
‘A Winter’s Eve Fest’ will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Col. Wm. Bond House, 143 Ontario St. in Lockport.
Admission is free of charge and open to the public. (The Niagara History Center gratefully accepts free-will donations.)
